Small Project Research Grants

In October each year, the Trust makes available funds to UK applicants of up to £15,000 for research into diseases of poultry. This funding will be awarded following assessment of applications by members of the Trust. How funding is used after a successful application will not be stipulated by the Trust, but particular preference will be given to 'pump-priming' projects.

The Trust may decide that the annual sum will be divided among two or more applicants in any one year. Funding will only be awarded year-by-year and an applicant successful one year will need to apply again and compete for the next year's allocation. COVID-19 impact on completion of HT grant-funded activities

As a result of the significant disruption that is being caused by the COVID-19 pandemic we understand that many applicants for our travel and research grants and peer reviewers will be making adjustments to their professional and personal lives. Complications may arise relating to uncertainty in ability to travel, visits to other countries, dates of courses or conferences, accessibility of workplaces and access to livestock and laboratory consumables. As a result, they may have difficulty in meeting the timelines associated with our completion deadlines. Please let the Houghton Trust Secretary or Chairman know if you need additional time as we intend to be flexible.

Since some conferences, training courses, and workshops are now being held online, we will currently accept applications (for funding up to £1K) to cover registration fees for online conferences and courses. Please apply using the ‘Travel Grant’ application form.
